Midline Stabilization
One of the key components to the squat (and any other athletic move), is midline stabilization. We had the fortune of taking Kelly Starrett’s (Crossfit San Fransico) seminar last weekend and he describes how to stabilize your midline before squatting.
1) Start by tightening your abs
2) Pull your belly button in. Picture yourself pulling the zipper of your pants up with your belly button.
3) Make sure you keep your head in line with your spine.
4) Push your butt back 1 inch, then squat. Don’t let your knees move first on the way down.
5) Hold onto a bar if you need to until you feel you can hold your midline tight while squatting.

Besides the sun shining outside (which rocks big time), we also would like to acknowledge our clients who have shined this week. We have 5 more girls who got their name on the white board for pull ups this week! YES!!!! Congrats Leslie, Anna, Asja, Kathy, and Maya. Keep it rocking.
Self Defense Seminar
We are pleased to be holding a Self-Defense Seminar on May 2nd. Our friends from Evolution Krav Maga will be holding an afternoon seminar to teach us how to fight off some bad dudes. We still have some spots available. Please email us to sign up.
No It Doesn’t Get Easier
We wanted to wish Burnaby Lake Women’s Rugby Team good luck in their playoff game today against Bayside. We hope you guys kick some butt!
Building Strength
A great way to build shoulder strength is handstands. Try holding your handstand for 2 minutes against a wall. Once you have mastered this, try a free standing handstand with the same intention of holding it for 2 minutes.

Never Never Give UP
